What! No Pizza for Dinner?

It was Friday.

It was 3:00 pm

It hit me.

This was the end of my first week of my Month of May Clean Eating Challenge.  (Check out more on this here: {link})

I am choosing not to eat dairy, wheat, sugar and to not drink coffee.

Except it is Friday.

I always end my highly productive week with the reward of one of my top pizza choices-Pal Joey’s, Al’s (you have to live in the Wheaton, IL area to appreciate these two places), Gino’s, Barone’s, Jet's or wait for it…Tombstone!

Pizza for dinner was motivation.

Today, with my clean eating commitment strong, I knew I was not going to have pizza.

Instead I was having a lot of feelings. 


Anger-as in wtf.

Disappointment-as in WTF.

Fear-as in WTF!

I realized that I had similar feelings when I quit my partying ways.

At that time, I replaced my alcohol with M & M’s.

Sugar for sugar, essentially.

Since sugar is not an option during my Month of May Clean Eating Challenge, M&M’s are not an option.

That means that I have to do something different.


If you have been following my posts on Facebook (Like my Coaching page to see them) you know I have been talking about doing nourishing things.

I actually wanted to feel something different.

So, I chose to dance.

Weirdly, one of my favorite songs to dance to is New Orleans is Sinking by The Tragically Hip.

I danced. I felt good. I felt happy. I did not feel undernourished.

And…I did not miss the pizza.

So, try this:


Even if you have not joined me in the on Month of May Clean Eating Challenge this will still be helpful.

Make a list of 10 things you can do instead of indulging in your poison.


Here is mine:

  1. Dance
  2. Call a friend
  3. Watch Super Soul Sunday
  4. Play online Bridge
  5. Read a book
  6. Go for a walk
  7. Do nothing but sit
  8. Pick veggies from my garden
  9. Make that dentist appointment and then take the car in for an oil change
  10. Try out a new clean-eating recipe
