Thank You and Amend

There is no better time of year to make changes and start anew than in January.

I don’t know about you, but I can almost feel a pull from the inside to start making plans for the future. I have a tendency to go full steam ahead without fulling saying good-bye (and thank you) to last year.

That is why this year, before all the goal setting and New Year’s resolutions I am suggesting we step back, slow down.  Let's start 2018 from a place of gratitude and appreciation for all we have as well as making reparations and leaving behind all the mistakes and regrets of 2017. Or years before that.

A Reflection Exercise

1.  Complete the following sentence.

I would like to thank                         for                                         .

Think parent, teacher, mentor, boss, spiritual leader, friend, your struggle, rival, coach, child, sibling, relative, pet, postal carrier, neighbor, politician, inspiration…
Do this as many times as you need to until you feel complete.

2. Then complete this sentence:

I would like to make amends to                                 for                                       .

Think parent, teacher, mentor, boss, spiritual leader, friend, your struggle, rival, coach, child, sibling, relative, pet, postal carrier, neighbor, politician, inspiration …

Do this as many times as you need to until you feel complete.

Now, pick at least one of your Thank Yous and one of your Amends and choose from the following tasks:
  • Write a note of thank you or amends
  • Send an email of thank you or amend
  • Make a donation in their name
  • Volunteer at a related cause
  • Call them up and read what you wrote
  • Burn the Thank You or Amend papers as a blessing ritual
  • Tell one other person, or your higher power, what you are grateful for and for what you want to make amends.
In 2018 may we create peace one Thank You or Amend at a time.

Blessings to all who read this. Thank you for your support.
